She asked Evelyn to come home with her
for menage a trois, but was refused.
She had a new man,
actually the old one,
and Evelyn loved to play with her and Willie but not
now. To Evelyn a new man
was not even new.
They paid the pizza bill and walked to Evelyn’s car
from the patio shade where men watched
them go to get the lid of grass
promised and already paid for,
for at home he was waiting for the door to open,
writing something that looked a lot like this
though he was seeing somewhere else far off.
