"Wreathing the Air around Me"

Smoke paying out and curling back its long pulsing stream,
the heart visibly invisible,
O hoodoo woman’s moon
whose clouds darker than the sky tonight slice and glide
where they go . . . O let them go, woman,
where they can love with their rain, their thunder, lightning
and silent steps up one sky and down another
and be there when the heart shows its face,
two moons tonight,
one for each eye.
